August 1, 2007 A drawing based on a photo of the old Carolina Theatre graces the cover of the current issue of Uptown Magazine. Thanks to Zoe and Todd for hooking me up with that. Very cool, indeed.
July 13, 2007 My most recent work is currently being shown at Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro. It's a good body of small format pieces shown in an excellent space. If you happen to be in the Statesville/ Wilkesboro/ Boone area on Hwy. 421, stop in and check it out. I think it would be time well spent. Thanks to Kara Minton-Elmore, Eric, the volunteers and the board for having me. For info go to www.wilkesartgallery.org
March 1, 2007 I have a solo at Heck Yeah Coffee Hub up throught the end of the month. The work consists entirely of drawings. Topically, the inventory is split: half is based on cycling imagery and half is made up of more automatic, wildly abstract drawings. It is my first show consisting entirely of drawings, so I'm very excited to show this work. Thanks to Arleigh for hooking me up and to Brent for letting me show in his space. Check it out, both the work and Heck Yeah.
January 7, 2007 I've hung my show at Durham Art Guild. It came together well and if you have a chance, check it out. I combined selected monoprints and ink on paper drawings to comprise my inventory. The opening is January 11, 5-7 PM. The show is up through February 4. Thanks to Lisa Morton and the staff at DAG for their help and for hosting my work.
I have three drawings in a show at Heck Yeah Coffee Hub on Camden Road next to the Charlotte Art League. It's the first time I've shown any of my cycling related art. The title of the show is "Cycleart", so it seemed like a good time to pull a couple drawings out. Many thanks to Arleigh Jenkins for including me in the show. It runs through January 31.
November 22, 2006 I've been given a solo show at Vintage 21 (www.vintage21.com) in Raleigh, NC. Thank you to Jessica Orr and Matt Stevens for this. It will run from December 1, 2006 through January 1, 2007. The opening is December 1. Be there or be uncool.
September 24, 2006 The show at Whiteville is over and I picked up my work this past week. It came together very well and I have to thank David and SECC once again for giving me the opportunity to show there. Artists don't often get the chance to have eighteen pieces up together in a gallery, so when one does and it comes off nicely, one has to be very pleased.
I am now finishing up a series of oil paintings-seriously, it's true. More painting is in the works along with the planning of a new line based on my recently born infatuation with the sport of cycling.
August 22, 2006 I currently have a solo show up at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, NC. It runs until September 15, 2006. The opening reception was yesterday at 6pm. I had a great time and I hope that those who attended enjoyed it as well. Many thanks to David McCormick for that opportunity.
August 1, 2006 I have been selected for the Summer Group Show at Dyehouse Gallery in Waterford, Ireland. The paintings are "Floater" and "Slippery Slope". I must thank Liz McCay at Dyehouse for this opportunity.
July 15, 2006 I have been awarded a solo show at the Durham Art Guild, running January 5- February 4, 2007. The reception is January 11 at 5pm. Thank you to Lisa Morton and the rest at DAG for this good news.
July 1, 2006 Recent pieces are posted in the drawings section. If you want to understand where I am going conceptually and visually, look at my 2006 drawings and my silkscreen pieces. Something is brewing with those ingredients. Also, stay tuned for paint on canvas.
June 21, 2006 Check out Ashley Lathe in the Southeast edition of New American Paintings. It's top notch work from a top notch dude.
